T he National Society of Black Engineers is on a mission to elevate our professional brand by highlighting the achievements and excellence of our Alumni/Technical Professional membership. In keeping with this, we have partnered with the National Engineers Week Foundation to allow members to apply to be recognized as a “New Face” in Professional Engineering. The application process is simple and straightforward! Simply follow the link below for an opportunity to be nationally recognized during National Engineers Week 2012.

  • Who: Engineers 30 years or younger as of December 31, 2011
  • What: Nominate yourself or another inspiring NSBE member to be recognized!
  • When: Nominations must be received by November 4, 2011
  • Why: To receive recognition for your contributions to the field of engineering and to elevate the roles of Blacks in STEM.
  • Where: One top nominee will be featured in USA Today during National Engineers Week with the winners from other engineering societies. Top nominees will also be featured and profiled on The National Engineers Week Foundation website. • How: Click here to apply online now! NSBE Professionals Name Change Initiative"

In 2011-2012, the NSBE national leaders and I will be making a strong push to change the NSBE Alumni Extension name and membership classification to “NSBE Professionals.” I fully support this name change initiative and feel that it is a pivotal time for our organization to be focused on building the professional brand of NSBE. We are globally recognized as a student-managed organization, but we also want to be strong with our professional sections. Many people may think that a brand name is simply just a word, but I think it is very important when you consider the long term impact. Changing the name to NSBE Professionals supports the long range vision of NSBE AE to be the premier career access organization for black technical professionals.
